Francis Edwards died peacefully at his home on Friday, February 16, 2024. Francis was born on November 9, 1943 to Dale and Dorothy Edwards in Broadus. He graduated from Powder River County High School in 1962. He attended Montana State College for 4 years. In 1967 he married Diana McCurdy and they returned to the family ranch. For the first time in Broadus school history, both the boys and girls basketball teams won district tournament titles in the same season. Both boys and girls teams won their way straight through the tournament – the boys winning two games due to their first round bye, and the girls three games. HELENA – Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks will implement changes this year to the reservation process for state park sites. The changes will create more opportunities for recreationists to enjoy state parks and comply with legislation passed by the 2023 Legislature. Starting this year, visitors will have up to three months prior to their planned arrival date to make campsite and lodging reservations or purchase tour tickets. February 22, 1924 Dan Gilmore to Ride for Movies It was reported in Broadus this week that Dan Gilmore had accepted a position as horse rider with a moving picture concern at Hollywood, California. Mr. Gilmore, it is said, plans to leave for that destination in a few days. He is regarded as one of the best riders on Powder River and working before the camera will be “pickings” for him.
