    Over the past week, Powder River County has seen a major side effect of the deep snow deposits left during February – flooding. The effect comes on slowly, first beginning with a trickle in the tiniest rivulets, high in the hills. As the water descends towards the Gulf of Mexico, it picks up power as those rivulets become streams, and eventually become torrents, washing out dikes, dams, and roads. At the State Leadership Conference, the students competed in a number of contests, attended business sessions, took part in the Special Olympics activities, participated in workshops, and enjoyed the Carnival Fun Night.   • Here's the Dirt on the Broadus Community Garden

    The Broadus Community Garden Project will take root May 2019 near the Powder River Manor, in the southeast corner of the property. Community members can rent a garden plot in the garden and grow their own produce to eat or share. Raised and in-ground plots as well as a wheel-chair accessible plot will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Full plots are 8’ x 16’, $30 each; half plots are 8’ x 8’, $15 each. The two day Academic Olympics competition has junior high competing on Tuesday and high school on Wednesday.     On Sunday, March 24, 2019, Murr Stuart Isaacs passed away at the age of 73 in Gillette, WY, where he was lovingly surrounded by his family. Murr was born on January 23, 1946 at Miles City, MT. At age 19, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1968. In 1969 he married Mary Lolley and had two sons: Bill and Charlie.     UM News Service MISSOULA – The University of Montana’s new online Big Sky Poll found that 51 percent of registered Montana voters support legalizing marijuana, while 37 percent oppose legalization. Eighty percent of Democrats support legalization, along with 33 percent of Republicans. When asked, “Do you think marijuana should be legalized in Montana?” responses differed by age.
