By: Libby Nisley, Advisor Our Broadus BPA chapter was a strong force in the state competition March 13th-15th. There were around 1,200 competitors from over 100 chapters at the conference. We had 10 students qualify for the National competition to be held in Dallas, TX on May 4th-8th, which is a difficult task indeed. Many of our students had a tough turnaround from State Basketball participation right onto the bus early the next morning to compete in BPA. These students are truly well-rounded...

Billy: Thanks so much for astutely capturing for all posterity the momentous picture of Broadus’ endearing tradition of the Broadus Hawk warriors being escorted by the city garbage truck onto the next victory! Sometimes Cass leads; sometimes Cass follows. Either way, it’s perhaps an event worthy of the Guinness Book of Records? I can’t imagine another town in the state, the nation, perhaps the whole Universe with such an endearing tradition. Thanks for the laughs! Go Broadus! Go Hawks! Go Cass! Dee Mobley...

Jeremy Cale Emmons, age 15, of Broadus passed away on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at Broadus as a result of an automobile accident. Cale made his entrance into this world on July 3, 2006 in Miles City, MT. Fireworks from the moment he was born had him trying valiantly to convince everyone that the 4th of July was HIS holiday! Dutifully, he always got to light off a fair share early and loved every moment of it. Cale was the best big brother and made sure his sisters got everything they needed. He...
With the proper spelling of "intoxicating" in the 9th round of the finals, Justin Aye, Broadus 7th grader took home top honors at the County Spelling Bee last Thursday. Addison Draine, 8th grader, went round for round with Aye in the finals until being marked incorrect for spelling "hurtle" as "hurdle", which was spelled correctly but apparently not the word the judges were seeking. When asked to use the word in a sentence, the sentence used dealt with a footrace, hurtling down the track in the...
March 24, 1922 County High School Would Not Operate Until July, 1923 The proposition of a county high school will be submitted to the voters of Powder River County at the primary election next August. This date was fixed in order to save the expense of a special election but the lateness will prevent a county high school from operating next fall should the proposition receive a majority of the votes so that the county high school would not be effective until a year from next July. Petitions for a county high school with data pertaining thereto...

With this in mind, Faith Bible Church will be offering a parenting class series for the next eight Sundays. It will be held at 1-2:30 pm each Sunday, beginning March 27th. This is for all interested parents. There is a video portion that we will watch and a workbook that we will provide. We look forward to having parents connect...
