When local rancher Ray Williams heard about the fires in the Texas panhandle, which burned over 1.2 million acres in late February and early March, Williams was reminded of the help he received in 2017 following the Lodgepole Complex west of Jordan, which burned over 270,000 acres. Ray had yearlings in the area at the time, and a donated load of hay helped keep his operation in action. A 2,323 acre wildfire took off Sunday near Otter, MT, just south of Custer National Forest near the juncture of Powder River, Rosebud, and Big Horn Counties. The Otter Road fire was contained by Monday, and the cause of the fire was suspected to be a feeding pickup driving through tall grass, according to the Broadus Volunteer Fire Department. The Montana Department of Revenue warns all Montanans to be aware of numerous scams and frauds related to their tax information and refunds. The most recent scam involves the advertising of a 1-800 number for the Department of Revenue that mimics the department’s call center number.
